COMMON REPAIR PROBLEMS WITH CAR HOISTS

Defective Parts

Car lifts are designed to last a long time and are made from some of the best automotive parts. However, depending on the frequency of use, they do wear out and will need car lift repairs. Surprisingly, there are many parts to a car lift that you wouldn’t think about that can break and need repair. Some of these include:

  • Seal kit

  • Hydraulic hose

  • Cylinder

  • Hydraulic pumps or other power units

  • Equalizer cables

  • Lifting chains

  • Sheaves

  • Pulleys

  • Rollers

  • Safety locks

  • Arm restraints

  • And more

Oftentimes, when we get a call from a customer, they will have no idea what is wrong with their car lift, which is actually quite normal. One of our specialties is troubleshooting malfunctioning lifts. We have over two decades of working with and repairing car hoists. We know what to look for and what symptoms mean what. When you call us for a car lift repair, we’ll comb your entire car hoist and look for anything we see that is wrong. Oftentimes, the symptom is not the cause. We do our best to fix your car lift expeditiously and get you back to what you love doing. Contact us today to get started!

Rebuild Cylinders

Cylinders are integral to the job of a car lift. Car lifts rely on hydraulic lifts to lift the car or the truck up. These hydraulic lifts are made from a pump, a lift cylinder, hydraulic fluids, and valves. The pump pushes hydraulic fluids into the lift cylinder, with accompanying valves that ensure the fluid is flowing in the right direction on the upstroke and downstroke. If one of these components malfunction, the lift stops working, which is where your car lift repair specialist comes in. Our team of auto shop equipment specialists can rebuild your cylinders and fix your pumps and/or valves to restore function to your car hoist. Call us today for details!

Emergency Services

In the event of a car hoist emergency, we can help. Miller Equipment offers car lift emergency services. This can entail when your vehicle is stuck at the top of your car hoist, or your car lift is just not working, and your auto repair shop can’t properly perform car repairs without it. As mentioned above, car hoists can stop working if one of its component parts stops working, so if you are in the middle of a repair and the car is stuck at the top, it will remain there. This can be a scary proposition for any car owner, and if you are an auto repair shop, explaining to a customer that their vehicle is stuck at the top of a car hoist can be incredibly awkward, indeed. If you are in the Orlando or Tampa area, give us a call. We’ll make you our highest priority.
